How to manage your social media each month in 5 easy steps

Social media is a crucial aspect of marketing for authors and small businesses. It’s one of the best ways for you to interact directly with your readers and build an audience. But managing social media can be a daunting task – especially when you’re just getting started. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to manage your social media each month in a stress-free, effective way.
Let’s take a closer look at how to make the most of your social media accounts…
1. Set Clear Goals
The first step to successful social media management is to set clear goals for yourself each month. This will help stay you focused on what needs to be done and help you know when you’re making progress. We recommend setting both short-term and long-term goals! Some starter goals could be increasing the amount of engagement on your posts, creating a certain number of Reels each month, or increasing your monthly shares.
2. Plan Ahead
Planning ahead helps you keep your social media presence organized and running smoothly throughout the month. It also saves time by allowing you to schedule posts in advance so they don’t get lost in the shuffle when life gets busy! Use tools like Later or Buffer to plan out posts ahead of time. These platforms also let you watch conversations around key topics so your brand can react, share and engage quickly if needed.
3. Optimize Your Content
You probably already know that your content looks a little different when it shows up on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. That’s why optimizing for the platform you’re sharing on is so important. When creating content for each platform, consider who is on it and how it’s used, then adjust accordingly. Tik Tok users prefer quick-hitting content, while Instagram followers favor super visual posts. When you can, use analytics data from previous months’ performance to determine what type of content works best on each platform.
4. Analyze Your Performance
You know those goals that you set at the beginning of the month? It’s time to take a look back at them, analyze your results, measure success and identify areas that need improvement. (We like to do this at the end of each month.) Looking for the data you’ll need to analyze your progress? Platforms like Instagram and Facebook have their own built-in metrics, and most social schedulers do as well.
5 . Monitor Results
Finally, it’s important that you watch the results of your efforts during the month to see if they’re successful. If you have a great Instagram post that’s not getting many eyes, share it in your Stories! If you have a Tik Tok video that’s doing really well, share it on your Instagram and Facebook as well! And if you have a post where you’re getting some engagement, be sure to be available to talk back to your audience.
Taking control of your social media doesn’t have to be overwhelming! By following these five steps, you can manage your accounts efficiently and effectively each month.
The most important part of your social media strategy is that you’re showing up and doing it consistently! With these tips, we know you can maximize your reach online while still finding enough time (and energy!) to focus on your brand or business. Happy posting!
